It Finally Hit Me…

saturday, 31 october.

4 am. my alarm went off.

time to get ready for sydney.

our flight was at 9 am, and i had arranged for an uber to pick me up at 6 am.

was i excited?

still nothing…

at the airport, i could already spot BIGBANG fans.

you’re probably thinking… how could you tell?

well, the BIGBANG merchandise they were wearing helped. lol.

once we landed in sydney, we headed straight to accor stadium. vip check-in opened at 11 am, so we could collect our packages and buy merchandise before going to the hotel.

we couldn’t check in to our room yet anyway.

on the train, my friend was talking about BIGBANG. she was so excited.

me?

still hadn’t hit me…

there was a couple standing next to me, and i said to them, “she’s excited to go to the concert.”

“i’ve been listening to their music every night,” the husband said, looking at his wife.

we all started laughing.

i had a feeling he hadn’t had much choice in the matter.

then i noticed she had a zoa keychain. naturally, i had to ask where she got it.

apparently, she had ordered it from a k-pop store in korea and had it shipped to australia.

“it’s an ugly-cute thing” i said out loud.

her husband started laughing again.

but it is… ugly-cute and I love it. i don’t know how else to describe it.

when we arrived at the stadium, part of the street had been closed off. we collected our vip packages and bought our merchandise.

nope. still hadn’t hit me…

then it was off to the hotel to check in and get ready.

the gates opened at 5 pm, so we left around 4 pm.

yes… still nothing.

once we got inside and found our seats, i looked around the stadium. there were still so many empty seats, but it was slowly filling up.

then i looked at the stage.

wow…

our seats were really close.

then it started drizzling.

rain jacket on.

it stopped.

rain jacket off.

it started again.

rain jacket on…

apparently, this was going to be part of the evening’s entertainment.

i think it was around 7:30 pm when the music started.

and there it was.

finally.

“wow… i can’t believe i’m actually going to watch BIGBANG.”

then they came on stage.

everyone was screaming.

including me.

yes, the same person who had spent the entire day waiting to feel excited.

i could hear their voices. live. and they were right there in front of me.

i don’t really know how to describe what was going on inside me.

happy… excited… in awe…

probably all of it at once.

it started drizzling again for a little while. daesung even joked that the rain had stopped because they had the sun there, pointing at taeyang.

then came “he got the power, power, power…”

and taeyang followed with “i take shower, shower, shower…”

lol.

they were funny. and their chemistry on stage was ridiculous. the little jokes, the way they played along with each other… so much fun to watch.

at one point, one of them asked who was seeing BIGBANG for the first time.

i can’t remember who asked. there was a lot going on in my head by then.

but i was surprised by how many people responded.

apparently, i wasn’t the only first-timer.

it was nice to see that i wasn’t the only one.

and there i was, one of them.

it had finally hit me.

then “bang bang bang” started.

when they walked down the stage, i even ran to the barricade to try to get a better look at them.

i was too slow and too short.

but luckily, if i stood on my tiptoes, i could still see part of them.

if you had seen me, you probably would have laughed.

then it was time for one of my favourite songs: “still life.”

it was the last song.

when t.o.p’s voice came on, everyone started cheering.

the concert lasted for two and a half hours, but it went way too fast for me.

at the end, i didn’t want it to finish.

i fell in love in two and a half hours… and then it ended and broke my heart.

i don’t think i’ve ever screamed, danced, and enjoyed a concert this much.

the production itself was amazing.

the only thing i regret is not knowing the fan chants… but i’ll come prepared next time.

on my way out of the stadium, i was still amazed and in awe. my mind was still at the concert.

the next day, i woke up with no voice and a sore throat.

good sign?

it probably meant i had enjoyed the concert properly.

i was sad that i couldn’t see another concert. i would have loved to see them one more time.

a few days have passed since i attended the concert, and i’m still talking about it.

another friend of mine said that i would now listen to their songs over and over again.

and guess what?

he was right.

BIGBANG concert… would i do it again?

in a heartbeat!
